Possible to Solo 55 UW?
I know there are nightmares that rend enchantments, but is it possible to solo UW with 55 build? Do the nightmares usually come up while you're fighting smites or aatxes, or when you're just randomly walking around and pop up?
EDIT: sry, i dont mean the WHOLE uw, i just mean smite runs.

It's possible but very griefing and time-consuming. From what I've heard, it's just not worth it.

yes
Spell Breaker
Protective Spirit
Healing Breeze (Spirit Bond for 600)
Deadly Riposte
riposte
Mending
Balthazar's Spirit
-optional- (Retribution for 600, Essence bond or Reversal of Damage)
Kills Aatxes easily, but slow. bit faster if you go 600hp, change Healing Breeze to Spirit Bond and put Retribution in optional. about 2 minutes on 1 group of aatxes - not worth it IMO.
sure there is that Mo/D build that works well, but its not 55hp.

it's very possible to solo UW as a monk. Mo/W, Mo/Me, Mo/N, and Mo/D all work, i'm not sure about other secondaries.
Mo/D SoJ:
16 smite (12+3+1)
9 Prot (6+3)
10 Divine (7+3)
8 Earth
5 wind
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Blessed Signet[/skill][skill]Rending Aura[/skill][skill]Shield of Judgment[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Blessed Aura[/skill]
that's probably the best for monks. as far as nightmares go, when you aggro the aatxes, if a Nightmare pops up, run BACK to the ghost named Benton, and squeeze between him and the ledge into the area behind him. the aatxes won't be able to hit you, and you can wand the Nightmare to death. SoJ will kill the aatxes, grasps might be tricky with Dazed, but you can avoid it by stepping back a few steps before casting, and luring out their first Distracting Blows by autoattacking. Rending Aura is there for Smites... who love spamming Reversal of fortune. use it as much as possible.
Mo/N can do it with SS/Suffering, but Mo/D is safer and all around better for a monk primary imo. if you want, 55 Necros are my favorite way to solo 55 the UW nowadays. my favorite build atm is:
16 Blood (12+1+3)
8 Heal
10 Prot
rest in SR + curses
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Healing Breeze[/skill][skill]Plague Touch[/skill][skill]Suffering[/skill][skill]Spoil Victor[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Mending[/skill]
pull with SV, use the same trick as above for Nightmares. Suffering is a cover hex for smites, use suffering, let them ALL smite it off, then use SV again, recovered with suffering. Plague touch is for Dazed from Grasps and Burning from terrorwebs. can kill Aatxes, Grasps, Smites, coldfires, obby behemoths, Charged Blacknesses, terrorwebs, and stalking nights. there is an SS N/Mo, but it's an easy search to find it, and i personally like this one better.

Refer to this thread, but just for starters.
Prot. Spirit
H. Breeze
Shield of Judgement
Bonetti's Defense
Sprint
Z. Fire
B. Spirit
Mending
Have 16 in Smiting, change scalp to get 4 pips in Mending at 12 Healing.
Aggro Aatxes with no enchants on and then sprint away to get nightmares to pop-up, then put up enchants, aggro and run away, they rend you and die. Do for each side, then kill Aatxes.
I can do it, it takes a long time, it's not really worth the time, I just do it for a challenge.

fuzzy's mo/n build is quite nice.
I always play it with SS and Spirit Bond instead of Plague Touch.
Imo SV ist just too slow for Smites (in nm and hm).
Only problems you will have are interrupts and nightmares:
To solve the nightmare problem just run behind a ghost to be safe from aatxes and let them strip you (if your in nm he will die from his skill - in HM you've got to renew prot spirit and use SS).
To avoid having SS interrupted you can abuse the Aatxes AI.
Just cast DURING the fight and wait until every aatxe you're tanking has interrupted you. Then use SS.
Avoid the Graspings interrupt is easy as they will die within seconds.
Lure them by casting SS. When they are running towards you cast Prot Spirit, then hit them a few times until they've all used their interrupt and cast healing breeze and a second SS.
They should be death withing the one cast of Prot Spirit.
